PBA LOCAL 165 - MIDDLESEX COUNTY SHERIFF

PBA 165 Welcomes Undersheriff David Q. Irizarry to the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office.

Undersheriff Irizarry was sworn in on February 5, 2024. Undersheriff Irizarry’s journey in law enforcement began in 1990 as a Middlesex County sheriff’s officer, before he was sworn in as a patrolman with the Metuchen Borough Police Department in 1992. During his tenure at Metuchen Borough Police Department, Irizarry demonstrated exceptional leadership, ascending through the ranks to detective (2001), detective sergeant (2006), lieutenant (2008), and captain (2011), before being named chief of police in 2015. He was the first Hispanic police chief in Metuchen.
